Hello!

We finished training on Thursday.  Friday was mostly a play day. We were able to spend time with Helen at the orphanage - a great blessing to her and us. Today (Saturday) was a hot day in Zambia, but a wonderful day.  Tomorrow (Sunday) my husband speaks at Steve Hafler's church and we are excited to see it. Michelle will be doing a children's Bible study. Pastor Josh was able to locate the Zambian pastor Harvest Baptist Church supports, and he will go preach for him tomorrow. This was a great blessing.

The missionaries have been an inspiration to us, and I believe, by God's grace, we have been a help and blessing to them.

Here are some final pictures from our team in Zambia.

  • Brigett at the ladies' meeting

  • Tor's home.

  • As I was in the middle of sending pictures Friday the electricity went off. The city turns it off unannounced to conserve electricity. That night we went to Toris' home for dinner.

  • Tori treated us to caterpillars. Yum! (Not really!) But we all ate them.

  • After our "delicious" caterpillars, we roasted marshmallows over the candles. The electricity was still off.

  • On Friday Steve Hafler and Phil Hunt treated us to a day at a wildlife preserve. We wish we had seen girrafes and zebras - but it was not to be. We did see some neat African animals.

  • Phil Hunt and Pastor Josh rode on the top of the vehicle.

  • A mongoose!

  • We spent Friday night and Saturday morning at the village with Helen Berman. Michelle joined Helen for clinic on Friday. They treated malaria, high fevers, malnutrition, worms...

  • While pastor was teaching a men's Bible Study at the church near the orphanage, Helen Justine, Michelle, and I went on a walk. This is a picture of Helen using a well in the community near the orphanage.

  • The men's Bible Study at Faith Baptist church. We are peering in through the bricks to try not to disturb them. Pastor taught on soul winning. They were very receptive and I believe the training this week will bring forth fruit that remains.

  • Baptistry

  • We are crossing the river to return to Kitwe. the river is swift and the boats ride low in the water.

  • This was the name of our boat.  I suppose you can fill in the blank. "Only God Knows - if this boat will make it across the river?

  • Saturday afternoon the missionaries organized a Valentine party. There is a wonderful team of missionaries here. We were truly blessed by the unity of the Spirit between them.

  • Michelle helped plan the games. Here you can see pastor doing his part in the relay game!

  • The children had a reading contest. They decorated their valentine box using the theme of a book they had read and then each child stood at the front and gave a short synopsis of the book they had used to design their box. It was fun. I was thinking about the future leaders we were watching.
