How do the adults study the Bible?
Adult Bible Fellowship
Because "Sunday School" isn’t required by the Bible a church doesn't have to have a Sunday School program to be obedient to the scriptures. So why do we have it?
At Highlands Baptist Church we desire to "provoke one another to love and good works" (Heb. 10:24). Our Adult Bible Fellowship is one method we have chosen to obey this scriptural command.
We strive to offer opportunities for fellow believers to engage in sustained exposure to the Bible and biblical thought in a systematic and interactive forum. Our goal is to facilitate an accurate and growing devotional application of the Word. The Adult Bible Fellowship ministry provides an essential opportunity for spiritual fellowship in smaller formats. We vary our format throughout the year to include biblical book studies as well as topical group studies in both small groups and class electives.
"Spending time with someone to do them spiritual good" is a memorable and simple way to understand discipleship. God has graciously not required us to live the Christian life alone. He has provided the Church body as an organism of diverse members to thrive in a unified community.
One-on-one discipleship relationships provide a way for two Christians of the same gender to informally meet and discuss their pilgrimage in the Christian life. Bible study, healthy accountability, and prayer are cheif components of a discipling relationship.
The discipling meetings may take a variety of forms. Discussing the Christian life over coffee, a meal, or on the trail all provide means to act as a catalyst for Christian growth. Highlands desire to be a community that helps bear one another’s sorrows and joys.
