OUR PURPOSE:
Equipping the children of Highlands Baptist Church through Christ-centered education for a lifetime of fruitful service for our Lord.
The absolute truth of the Word of God must be totally integrated into all areas of school life.
The school is only an extension of the home, and is completely dependent on the home to provide a continuum of Biblical training. A demand for academic excellence grows out of the desire for spiritual excellence, and can never be an end in itself. The growth of God's work in a life begins with the prepared soil of a heart, and that is seen by the teachability, servanthood, zeal, and industry of the student. These fruits are best produced through the cooperative effort of the home, church, and school as they plant, water, fertilize, prune, and cultivate the impressionable soil of the heart. The ultimate goal for each of our students is to see them in leadership in a local church within ten years of their graduation from Highlands Baptist Academy.
OUR PLAN:
Good teachers are the most important ingredient for the success of a Christian school. The Lord has given us great teachers who are models for their students both spiritually and academically.
Highlands Baptist Academy is not just a place for your children to learn academically. We strive to encourage your children in the same Christian philosophy and direction that you are working toward in your home.
Parental Involvement is also very important. There are “Parents of HBA Meetings" to encourage active participation and strong communication between parents and the school. Our parents provide loving disciplined homes which encourage a teachable atmosphere at school.
OUR CURRICULUM:
Bob Jones University Press provides the bulk of our curriculum. It is concept oriented, with the premise that learning is easier when the material is understood. The books are modern, interesting, and thoroughly Christian. The material is attractive and fun for the student. At the core of the curriculum is the goal of trained eager readers, with highly developed comprehen-sion and thinking skills. The scope and sequence has been carefully prepared, written, and edited by leading experts in the field of education.
